We would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves to you.

Drs. Robert and Danielle Kauffman came to the region in 1989 after graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic. After opening our first office in Merrillville, and practicing together for 6 years, Kauffman Chiropractic branched out to Lakes of the Four Seasons in 1995. The practices and the area experienced tremendous growth during this time.

In the year 2000 Drs. Robert and Danielle Kauffman built a building at 7620 East 109th Ave, in the new town of Winfield, on the corner of Randolph and 109th. Kauffman Chiropractic in Merrillville followed soon after in 2002, building a twin building on 84th Drive off of Broadway, between Applebee’s and Meijer. Whether you’re on your way to or from work, or have some time during the day, there is always an office conveniently located for your needs.

The Kauffman's have managed to balance family and careers staying actively involved in school, church and their kid’s sports activities. Their children Nick, Kristina, and Michael go to school in Merrillville and West Lafayette. "Our offices and lifestyle are family friendly, and all of our children have been treated with chiropractic care since they were little."

Dr. Robert H. Kauffman is a native of the Detroit area and was introduced to chiropractic care at a young age through effective treatment of numerous sports injuries. After getting good results with chiropractic care and some good advice from his father, a chiropractic patient himself, he chose chiropractic as a career. He was enticed by the challenge of getting people better, especially athletes, without the use of drugs or surgery. He excelled in the sciences and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Michigan State University, in their Pre-Med program. He was accepted into Palmer College of Chiropractic, the oldest and largest Chiropractic College in the world. It is at Palmer where the two chiropractors met.

Dr. Danielle B. Kauffman is a native of Quebec City, Canada. While pursuing a degree in pre-med at Laval University in Quebec, she was introduced to a life long friend of her mothers who had a small chiropractic practice. This woman took the time to explain chiropractic to her and how she could have a great practice but also a home life and family, the seed was planted and Dr. Danielle soon was applying to Palmer College. The challenges the awaited her in coming to a new country, learning a new language, graduating from Palmer and eventually becoming an American Citizen helped her become the excellent chiropractor that she is today.

Dr. Darcy Diehl is a native of Lake County, Indiana. She was introduced to chiropractic care at a young age following a back injury.  After experiencing great results, she decided to enter into the chiropractic profession.   Graduating from Calumet High School, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Southern Indiana, and was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida Campus to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Dr. Ryan Porterfield is a recent transplant to Northwest Indiana.  Dr. Porterfield is originally from Avon, Ohio (a Cleveland suburb); he attended Avon High School and went on to pursue a degree in biology from Wittenberg University.  While Dr. Porterfield was in college, his interest developed in the mechanics of the spine.  Upon earning his Bachelors degree, Dr. Porterfield started graduate school at Logan College of Chiropractic located in the greater St. Louis area.  Dr. Porterfield moved to Indiana with his wife upon earning his Doctorate in Chiropractic.  Dr. Porterfield is now the new associate doctor working in tandem with Dr. Robert Kauffman at Kauffman Chiropractic in Merrillville.  Dr. Kauffman’s Merrillville office is located off of Broadway on 84th Drive.

Kelly Dooley

Practice Representative ~ Merrillville

I am the Practice Representative for the Merrillville clinic,a patient since 2000 and a firm believer of chiropractic care and its wellness effects for over 20 years.

It is my wish to bring understanding to the public on the many benefits of chiropractic care and enlighten our current patients on the importnace of continued maintenance.  My unique background in retail, corporate management, organizational skills, computer skills, and personality will only enhance/add to the perfect experience at Kauffman Chiropractic.

Miriam Ortega

Chiropractic Assistant ~ Crown Point

My name is Miriam Ortega.  I am the Rehab Therapist for the office in Winfield.  I graduated from Everest College as a Massage Therapist.  I've been working with Kauffman Chiropractic since August 2007.  I love working in wellness.  I truly believe in chiropractic care because since I have started treatment, I have been pain free for 4 months.  I have the pleasure of working with patients and seeing them progress.  I enjoy being part of the Kauffman Chiropractic Team.

Toni Spraggins

Massage Therapist ~ Crown Point

My name is Toni Spraggins and I am the Massage Therapist at Kauffman Chiropractic.  I started two and a half years ago doing my clinical hours for Dr. Robert Kauffman in Merrillville.  When I witnessed how beneficial Chiropractic Care was, I knew right away this was something I wanted to be a part of.  I've since transferred over to Dr. Danielle Kauffman's office in Crown Point a year ago.

My name is Rebecca Irwin and I have been working with Kauffman Chiropractic since May 2009 doing marketing and events. I currently help both the Merrillville and Crown Point offices with the insurance and billing. I am new to chiropractic; I became a client in February 2009 and believe it works. I have my bachelors in Business Management and have 11 years of experience of doing billing for multiple types of businesses.

Olivia Schwingendorf

My name is Olivia Schwingendorf.  I have just started working as an Insurance Chiropractic Assistant at Kauffman Chiropractic in Merrillville.  Having known the Kauffman family for many years, I enjoy the experience of being able to be a part of their practice and help it grow.  I have also recently become a chiropractic patient, which has relieved my back pain and damage from many years of sports and training.

Also as a Public Relations major at Purdue Calumet, I love working with the Practice Representative, Kelly Dooley.  Each day, whether it is something small or significant, I am constantly learning through his example.

Barbara Westmoreland

My name is Barbara Westmoreland and I've been working with Kauffman Chiropractic since April of 2009 doing marketing and events with Kelly Dooley. I'm now working at the Crown Point location at the front desk. I started going to the chiropractor soon after starting marketing for migraines. I am now able to say that they have gone away and I keep up with maintenance care to prevent any on the way. I believe Chiropractic is a great way for people to get better without the need of prescriptions or surgery. I have come to trust in Kauffman Chiropractic.
